The perianal fistulizing Crohn’s disease clinical and research program at The Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Center at Mount Sinai is co-led by gastroenterologist Dr. Serre-Yu Wong and colorectal surgeon Dr Sergey Khaitov. The group is leading projects aimed at bettering the lives of patients with perianal Crohn’s disease, addressing a full spectrum of topics including quality of life and psychosocial impact, disease course and outcomes, nutrition and wound healing, association of perianal Crohn’s disease with hidradenitis suppurativa, clinical trials and translational science studies to define microbial signatures and explore host-microbe interactions in perianal Crohn’s disease. This program has received support from the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the New York City Crohn’s and Colitis Organization.
